outbound calling

Updated September 2026

Outbound calling is placing calls to your own customers and leads: reminders, confirmations, follow-ups and win-backs, instead of waiting for the phone to ring. The definition and how Sky does it.

What is a outbound calling?

Outbound calling is the practice of placing calls to your own customers and leads: appointment reminders, booking confirmations, follow-ups and win-back calls, instead of waiting for the phone to ring.

Every business has a list of calls nobody gets to: the reminders, the unsold quotes, the customers who went quiet. Outbound calling is working that list on purpose, on a schedule, with a record of every outcome.

How does it work?

A campaign pairs a contact list with a goal and a script. Calls go out inside the calling windows you set in the customer's local time; suppression and do-not-call lists are checked before every dial, opt-outs are honored on the call, and every outcome is logged.

  • Appointment booking and reminders
  • Order and booking confirmations
  • Quote and estimate follow-ups
  • Win-back calls to lapsed customers

How does Sky do it?

Sky runs outbound campaigns with natural two-way conversations, not recordings: it books the slot or answers the question during the call, identifies the business up front, and identifies itself as an AI when asked or where the law requires.

Frequently asked questions

Is outbound calling the same as cold calling?

No. Cold calling dials strangers from purchased lists, which Sky does not do. Outbound campaigns call your own customers and leads: people who booked, bought, or asked you to follow up.

What is a calling window?

The hours you allow calls to go out, applied in each contact's local time. Sky dials only inside those windows.

What is a suppression list?

The list of numbers that must not be dialed: your do-not-call entries and anyone who opted out. Sky checks it before every dial.
